6. Page formatting



Every page in AVSnap can be formatted individually. The page format depends on the mode of operation. There are three different page formats available: Project/Library mode page format, Control mode page format and Communication mode page format.

The cursor used during design work can be changed to match user's preference. Two main cursors are available: point and cross lines. To switch between each cursor use shortcut "~".

To format the page use Main Edit menu or Shortcut "P" or double click on an empty area of the design page. Shortcut "P" does not work in Communication mode since "P" is interpreted as letter "P".

6.1. Page size/orientation

Size list provides ability to preset page size for your current project. Custom size is provided to set page size which is not standard. The AVSnap can accommodate pages size of up to 100 by 100 inches. The page size can be in Inches, Millimeters and Pixels. When page size is selected in Pixels, the AVSnap switches to Control mode and allows creation of Active Symbols and Active objects.

The orientation of the page can be set using the Landscape and Portrait settings. Landscape orients the page so that the long edge of the page is horizontal, and Portrait orients the page so that the short edge is horizontal.

6.2. Page size using Custom
Select "Custom" in the sizes list to set non standard page size. Units of  measure such as millimeters or inches selection are used in the grid, dimensions settings.

6.3. Page templates

There are many cases where graphics or title block or any other object needs to be repeated on may pages. Any page can be converted to Template type page. Once converted this page is available to be applied to any other page. Objects or graphics or symbols on Template pages are not available on any other page and are only displayed as background. Template pages are available only in the current project.

Project Page can be designated to be template by selecting checkbox on the page setup form in addition it can be set as template by pressing "T" tool  on the Text formatting bar . The template page can be applied to any other page from the drop down menu on the Page setup form.

6.4. Page link

Any object on the design page can be linked to any  other page in the project. This allows to build a fully hierarchal project design.  One page can contain overall system block diagram while each block would link to separate page with individual design. To assign the page link to any object make sure there are more than 2 pages in the project. Select object you want be linked, right click on it and select Page link menu.

In the Page Link window select a page to link to. The Page link will work during design mode and also during Presentation mode.  When Page link is assign to an object, moving mouse over it will display page it is liked to.

To jump to linked page in the Project mode just select the object with Page link and press "W" key. In presentation mode just click on object with link to jump to linked page.
