The church is the process of building a new church including an entirely new audio video system.

The biggest challenge in this design and installation is the multi-phase building project, where the AV equipment location is not only temporary but will have to be moved during the construction phases, with the next temporary location undetermined.

In order to best accommodate this status of mobility, WAV decided that AV over CAT5 [Twisted Pair] would be the best way to go as this would allow relocating the AV room without having to run any new cable, other than CAT5, instead of audio, 5-wire coax cable, etc.

Another challenge was the fact that the large numbers of transmitters and receivers, would not only take up space, but also needed their own power supply each.

The ALTINEX MultiTasker was the solution. As a rack-mountable, card-slot based AV system, all CAT5 to Video cards are now located in one enclosure in a single rack and it’s all powered and controlled by two cords.

By putting one enclosure in the equipment room behind the platform, one in the sound booth and a large one in the video room we are able to seamlessly connect the video ports in floor boxes on the platform back to the video room, and from the video through the equipment room to the projectors that hang over the platform.

Inexpensive Cat5 covers most of the cables runs across the length of the building, saving both time and money on the installation.

The system was designed using AVSnap design software, which made designing the system a snap.
